We’ve compiled the most frequently asked questions asked by thousands of consumers regarding firelogs. Our answers draw on our years of experience in the firelog industry, our compliance with current guidelines, and our sincere desire that your firelog experiences be the best they can be.
Are Pine Mountain® Logs better for the environment?
Yes! Our All-Natural Pine Mountain
® firelogs have 85% less carbon monoxide emitted, 85% less combustion residue and 76% total particulate emitted when compared to oak cordwood in a typical fire.
Can I burn Pine Mountain® Logs in my wood burning stove?
The Pine Mountain
® Logs are designed to be burned in a brick or heavy gauge metal-lined masonry fireplace and ULC-listed fireplaces having a minimum burn area of 640 square inches. If you do choose to burn Pine Mountain
®Logs in a wood burning stove, only one log should be burned at a time and the doors left open to allow adequate airflow.
Can I burn Pine Mountain® Logs in my backyard firepit/chiminea?
Yes, as long as the Pine Mountain
® Log is not in an airtight container you may enjoy the beauty of a Pine Mountain
® Log while entertaining in your back yard or while camping. It is always an option to also double verify with your city regulations for burning in outdoor appliances. For chimineas, we recommend our 3.2 lb Pine Mountain Patio Log since the BTU content of a 5lbs log may be to extreme for the enclosed area.
Are Pine Mountain® Logs safe for my chimney?
Yes, Pine Mountain
® 100 % Natural Logs are cleaner burning than wood and result in 76% less creosote buildup than traditional oak cordwood fires. Our regular Pine Mountain
® logs result in 66% less creosote build up than traditional oak cordwood fires. Thus, no matter which product you choose, you can enjoy a beautiful, worry-free fire.
Why do some manufactured fireplaces say it is not safe to burn manufactured firelogs?
When manufactured fireplaces were first introduced to the market, UL-Certification Tests for those appliances did not address the use of firelogs in such units but instead simply recommended natural firewood be used. With the advent of manufactured firelogs and the environmental movement to save trees most fireplace manufacturers changed their product labels and warranty information approving the use of UL-Classified solid fuels, such as Pine Mountain
® Logs.
What do I need to light it?
Place the log on the fireplace grate with the Pine Mountain

Should glass doors on the fireplace be left open or closed while burning Pine Mountain® Log?
Firelogs require combustion air to burn properly. Always leave fireplace glass doors open while a firelog is burning unless the fireplace manufacturer's instructions indicate otherwise. After your Pine Mountain
® Log has completely burned, the glass doors can then be closed to help keep warm air in the house. The fireplace damper should be left open until the ashes remaining from the fire are completely cool.
Is it necessary to use a fireplace screen when burning Pine Mountain® Logs?
A wire, mesh fireplace screen is an important safety precaution to use whether burning a Pine Mountain
® Log or firewood.
Can I add wood to a Pine Mountain® Log?
Pine Mountain Log burns with such brilliance on their own that we don't recommend using wood with a Pine Mountain
® Log.
Can I burn more than one Pine Mountain®Log at a time?
Pine Mountain
® Logs were designed for single use. The sawdust content mixed with our special wax component of the product produces twice the BTU per pound of wood, allowing one Pine Mountain
® Log to provide a fire equivalent to several pieces of wood. Burning more than one log at a time could result in too large or too hot a fire in your fireplace, so please, use just one at a time.
Should I use Pine Mountain® Log as a firestarter?
You should not use Pine Mountain
® Logs as a fire starter since the product has been designed as a single use log to replace wood for several positive enhancing reasons relating to: performance, clean burn and environmental attributes. We recommend our Pine Mountain

Can I cook over Pine Mountain® Log?
It is not recommended to roast food items even over wood. Although Pine Mountain
® Log does burn much cleaner than wood, we advise to not cook over Pine Mountain

What are the ingredients in Pine Mountain® Log?

® Logs are patent protected and thus exact listing of the formulations and ingredients for Pine Mountain
® Logs are not available for public information. However, what we can say is that Pine Mountain
® Log is comprised of wax, sawdust and binders.
What gives Pine Mountain® Log Crackling its “Crackle” sound?

® Log uses an all-natural, food safe and patent protected ingredient which is safe-burning for your fireplace while also giving you a soothing real wood fire sound.
I have asthma; can I use Pine Mountain® Log?
Currently, we do not have medical testing to prove Pine Mountain
® Log as a safe asthmatic alternative, thus we cannot legally recommend this. What we can say is that Pine Mountain
® Log has little to no smoke, NO CHEMICAL SMELL, and many asthmatics have chosen it as an alternative to burning wood or other market firelogs.
If my pet/childs eats Pine Mountain® Logs will he/she get sick?
None of the ingredients in the Pine Mountain
® Log should be harmful to your pet or child. However, as we imagine would be the case with consumption of any other food or consumable, if your animal or child does consume all or part of a Pine Mountain
® Log and appears to be suffering, we would recommend that contact your veterinarian or doctor.
Will my logs burn if they get wet?
Pine Mountain
®Logs are similar to paper in that should they get wet they will dry. Simply let them dry out for 48 hours before trying to use them.
Can the ashes from Pine MountainTM Log be used as compost in my garden?
Ashes from a burned Pine Mountain
® Log are acceptable and safe to use for your plants in the soil of your outside garden. Spread the ashes over a larger area evenly and mix in with soil.
